About the Client
Lakera is an AI-native security platform that protects generative AI applications and agents from threats such as prompt injection, data leakage, and model abuse. Its products give enterprises runtime protection, AI red teaming, and workforce AI security, so teams can deploy GenAI without opening up new attack surfaces.
The Client's Initial Request
Lakera engaged DBB Software to add senior engineering capacity, ship new platform features, and re-architect its AI security platform for growth.
Engineering Capacity
Add senior engineers who could own backend feature work alongside the in-house team.
01
New Platform Features
Deliver new product capabilities, including live system configuration and platform reporting.
02
Architecture Modernization
Plan and execute a migration from a monolith toward microservices to support scale.
03
Solutions We Delivered
DBB Software embedded engineers directly in Lakera's organization, taking work from requirements through delivery and release. The team scoped features through RFCs, built them, and owned them after release.
Embedded Engineering Across the Stack
A backend-oriented full-stack engineer and three front-end developers joined Lakera's team. They evaluated business requirements, planned project scope, and delivered new platform features end to end, so Lakera could keep its roadmap moving without slowing the in-house team.
Live System Configuration Control
The team built wide configuration controls that can be applied to the live system, letting Lakera change platform behavior without a deployment. Paired with new system reporting, this gave the product and engineering teams direct visibility and control over how the platform runs.
Monolith-to-Microservices Migration
DBB Software designed the new system architecture and planned the migration from a monolith to microservices. Services were built in Golang with Chi and connected over gRPC, giving each part of the platform clear ownership and room to scale on its own.
Results Achieved
Changes Ship Without a Redeploy
Live configuration controls let Lakera's team adjust platform behavior in real time, so product and operational changes no longer wait on a deployment cycle.
Scaling Stops Being a Rebuild
Breaking the monolith into independent services means individual parts of the platform can grow on their own, without re-engineering the whole system each time the load increases.
Reporting Replaces Guesswork
New platform reporting shows the product and engineering teams how the system is configured and used, so decisions rest on current data instead of assumptions.
Scale Your Platform Without Slowing Your Roadmap
DBB Software embeds senior engineers who deliver features and modernize architecture in parallel, without slowing your in-house team.
Contact Us
"Most of our work starts with a 30-minute call where someone describes a product they're trying to ship and one part of the engineering picture they can't get around.
If that's where you are, let's set one up; I'll tell you straight whether we're the right fit.”
